– The probability of storms increases tomorrow

DISCUSSION

As forecast, it was hot across Eastern Kentucky today with highs in the 30s. As for temperatures, the trend will continue between 30 and 35 degrees for the next few days. There are signs of a cooling off early next week.

Your first warning: The probability of thunderstorms increases this evening.

Towards the evening and at night the probability of thunderstorms will increase. I would like to stress that not everyone will experience thunderstorm activity. It will remain mostly cloudy here, but if you do happen to get caught in a thunderstorm, the main dangers will be wind and strong lightning.

YOUR FIRST WARNING: JULY 4

On July 4th, the chance of thunderstorms really increases. We’ll start the day with partly to mostly cloudy skies. We’ll see a front move through that will keep temperatures around 30 degrees.

The greatest probability of thunderstorms occurs in the afternoon and evening hours. Wind and lightning are the main factors here.

What about other 4th of July days? Let’s take a look

THE WARMEST: 98° (2012)

THE COLDEST: 71° (1972)

WETTEST: 1.64″ (1965)

**DISCLAIMER: This data is from London as NWS Jackson records only go back to 1981.**

LOOKING AHEAD:

As the weekend approaches, there will be more thunderstorms on Friday and mostly on Saturday. During the night into Saturday, the probability of thunderstorms will decrease, so that we will have plenty of sunshine on Sunday.
