2 people arrested after 6-year-old boy shot in car with other children

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of two people after a six-year-old boy was shot while traveling in a car with two other children.

According to a press release, Raymond Tony Duque and Nicole Lynn McGee face multiple charges in the June 25 incident in Elgin. Police say a loaded shotgun was left unsecured in a vehicle and the 6-year-old was shot. The child remains hospitalized and his condition is unknown, police said.

Duque is charged with possession of a firearm (he has previously been convicted of a violent crime), three counts of endangering a child by accessing firearms and negligent storage of firearms.

McGee is charged with three counts of endangering a child by accessing firearms and negligent storage of firearms.
