Man admits shooting grandparents in Washington Parish, police say

WASHINGTON PARISH (WVUE) – According to the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, a Washington Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting in the Mt. Hermon area around 2 p.m. on Wednesday (July 3).

According to police, 23-year-old Colby Stokes confessed to his neighbor that he shot his grandparents. The neighbor called 911 and stayed with Stokes until police arrived.

When they arrived, they found two victims with gunshot wounds.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The female victim died after being transported to North Oaks Hospital in Hammond. Stokes was taken into custody without incident.

The criminal police are currently investigating the motive for the shooting. Stokes is charged with two counts of premeditated murder.
