Weld coroner identifies two men found dead in Poudre Ponds last week – Greeley Tribune

The Weld County Coroner has identified the two men found dead Thursday in Poudre Ponds in Greeley as 22-year-old Juan Garcia Blanco and 21-year-old Jose Garcia Atlahua, both of Greeley.

The cause of death is still unknown until the autopsy results are available, according to a press release from the medical examiner. When the bodies of the two men were recovered, police announced that the deaths appeared to be accidental.

Greeley firefighters first became aware of the possible disappearance when someone approached them during training exercises at the lakes and alerted them to several personal items – including a wallet, clothing and a cell phone – on the shore of one of the ponds.

Members of the Greeley Fire Dive Team recovered the bodies of the two men on Sunday.

Greeley Police continue to investigate the incident and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
