Spiritual leader “Buddha Boy” sentenced to ten years in prison for sexually abusing minors – One America News Network

A spiritual leader in Nepal, known as “Buddha Boy,” was sentenced to ten years in prison after sexually abusing a minor.

According to court officials, Ram Bahadur Bamjan, considered by his followers to be the reincarnation of the founder of Buddhism, Siddhartha Gautama, was sentenced on Monday.

Bamyan is said to be 34 years old. Strangely, however, most sources have refrained from specifying the leader’s age.

In addition to the 10-year prison sentence, Bamjan was ordered by a judge in the Sarlahi District Court in southern Nepal to pay $3,700 in compensation to the victim.

Court official Sadan Adhikari said the man had 70 days to appeal the verdict.

In January, Bomjan was arrested by police in a suburb of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, on charges of sexual assault and suspected involvement in the disappearance of at least four of his followers.

At the time of his arrest, police said he was robbed of $227,000 in Nepalese banknotes and $23,000 in other foreign currencies.

Last week, he was found guilty by the court of sexually abusing an underage girl. Authorities did not disclose the girl’s age.

The legal proceedings regarding the allegations related to the disappearance of his followers are also not yet complete.

Many Nepalese believe that Bamjan is the reincarnation of Siddhartha Gautama, as he himself claimed. However, Bamjan’s claims have been met with skepticism by a number of Buddhist scholars, even though they themselves believe in reincarnation.

In 2005, Bamjan rose to fame in southern Nepal, where he often held camps where thousands of people came to worship.
