SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Oak Park earlier this year, San Diego police announced Wednesday.

The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, near the intersection of 60th and Michael Streets. According to SDPD Lt. Steve Shebloski, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a single-vehicle crash.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle parked on the west curb of the intersection that had crashed into a nearby fence. An unconscious man was found in the driver’s seat.

Officers found the man had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body after they dragged him from the vehicle, Shebloski said.

The victim, later identified as 25-year-old Andres Dominguez of Poway, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel at 11:42 p.m.

During the course of the investigation, SDPD homicide detectives learned that Dominguez was involved in a verbal altercation during which he was shot in the upper body. He then drove a short distance and crashed, Shebloski said.

After several more months of investigation, SDPD announced that the altercation was a failed robbery attempt. Three teenagers were also identified as suspects.

According to Shebloski, 18-year-old Brayan Morales, 19-year-old Arlene Zaragoza and an unnamed 16-year-old boy were taken into custody in connection with Dominguez’s death. They are charged with murder and attempted robbery.

Morales was arrested without incident on Wednesday, July 3, at around 5 p.m. in the 3100 block of Camino Del Rio North. A few hours later, at around 7 p.m., Zaragoza was arrested in the 4000 block of Home Street.

The unnamed teenager is already in police custody at the San Diego County Juvenile Detention Center on another charge, Shebloski said.

SDPD said the investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
