Bench dedicated to local police academy graduate who died in Delaware crash in 2023 – WPXI

Glenn wanted to start his career as a police officer in California, Pennsylvania.

“He was the nicest, sweetest boy, always had a smile on his face and his future was so bright,” said Eric Porter.

He and his girlfriend were following his parents to party at the beach when a woman crossed the median, hit Eric’s side mirror and collided head-on with Glenn’s car.

“Our car’s headlights illuminated the scene of the accident, with debris all over the road,” recalls Glenn’s mother, Laurie Porter. “No parent should ever have to see something like that.”

The Porters say their town was virtually paralyzed because of Glenn’s funeral.

While they are trying to cure their condition, they are also angry at Delaware officials for not filing charges against the driver, who police say fell asleep at the wheel.

“She told the police she fell asleep and ended up hitting us and killing our son,” Eric said.

The Porters have contacted the Attorney General and Governor of Delaware. They have traveled there several times to speak with the police and explain the case law to them.

As a local judge, Eric is convinced that the case should go to court.

As they wait for closure, they are left with memories of an accident they wish they had never experienced, while also feeling grateful that they were able to be there for their son.

Channel 11 has reached out to the Delaware Attorney General, but we are still awaiting a response.
