Police in Garland search for suspected bank robber

GARLAND, Texas – Garland police are searching for a suspect who robbed a credit union in Garland Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they were called to the Texans Credit Union in the 7200 block of Telecom Parkway shortly after 1:30 p.m. about the robbery.

Upon arrival, officers found that a man wearing a black suit, straw hat and white face covering had entered the bank. He reportedly handed employees a note demanding money and fled after receiving the money before police arrived.

There were no injuries and no weapon was used, police said. Richardson police are also assisting in searching the area, as the bank is on the border of both cities.

Texans Credit Union President and CEO David Frazier issued the following statement regarding the robbery:

“On July 3, 2024, a non-violent incident occurred at our Garland branch, located at 7220 Telecom Rd, Garland, TX, 75044. The safety and well-being of our members and employees is our top priority. Law enforcement is currently investigating the situation and we are fully cooperating with their efforts. We can assure our members that there is no threat and we will continue to provide updates as needed. The Garland branch will remain closed today and is expected to reopen on July 5, following the Independence Day celebration.”
