Oklahoma police identify officer shot and killed during standoff

AFTER AN HOURS LONG STANDALONE YESTERDAY NEAR NORTHWEST 36TH AND PENN WHERE A POLICE OFFICER WAS SENT TO THE HOSPITAL, THE SUSPECT WAS DEAD AFTER SHOOTING AT POLICE OFFICERS. KOCO WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TEAMS ON THE SCENE AND FOLLOWED THE STORY ALL MORNING. AND OUR TEAM COVERAGE CONTINUES TODAY. KOCO IS AUDREY GOODSON AT OU HEALTH WHERE THIS POLICE OFFICER IS RECOVERING. NOW. AUDREY. CAMERON AND ALEJANDRA. GOOD MORNING. THIS POLICE OFFICER IS HERE AT OU HEALTH. WE WERE TOLD THEY HAD SURGERY AND THEY ARE EXPECTED TO BE OK, BUT THIS WAS THE SCENE WE SHOWED YOU ALL YESTERDAY MORNING LIVE ON KOCO. A POLICE OFFICER WAS SHOT WHILE RESPONDING TO THE DISRUPTION IN A NEIGHBORHOOD IN NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA CITY. SKY FIVE CAPTURES THE MOMENT IT ALL ENDED AS POLICE OFFICERS RESCUED FIVE PEOPLE, INCLUDING THREE CHILDREN AND TWO WOMEN. POLICE SAY THEY ARE ALL OK. HERE AT THE SCENE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SUSPECT IS DEAD. THE POLICE OFFICERS WERE ABLE TO ENTER THE HOUSE AND GET ALL THE PEOPLE OUT. THAT WAS INSIDE THE HOUSE AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THEY ARE FINE AT THIS TIME. THE SUSPECT WAS SHOT AND KILLED BY AN OKLAHOMA CITY POLICE OFFICER WHO IS NOW ON STANDARD PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE. AT THIS TIME WE DO NOT KNOW THE IDENTITY OF THE POLICE OFFICER WHO WAS SHOT. SUSPECT INFORMATION WHAT CAUSED THE INITIAL DISTURBANCE AND IF THE SUSPECT WAS LIVING IN THE HOUSE? I JUST HEARD A LOT OF DISTURBANCE, SO I WENT OUTSIDE AND SAW SOME FIREFIGHTERS PUTTING ON BULLETPROOF VESTS AND GETTING EQUIPPED. AND THEN THERE WAS A LOT OF POLICE AND ACTION RIGHT IN THE STREET. AND THE RESIDENTS WERE FORCED TO LEAVE THEIR HOMES DURING THE ROUTES. THE NEIGHBORS TOLD KOCO THEY WERE TERRIBLE AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. WHILE MANY OF THEM WAIT UNHAPPILY TO GET BACK HOME IN THE HEAT, MANY TOLD US THEY WOULD LOVE TO FOLLOW THE POLICE’S PATH TO PROTECT THEIR FAMILY. THE CHILDREN KEEP INSIDE THE HOUSE AND THEN OTHER CHILDREN TRY TO BE CURIOUS. WE JUST DON’T. SINCE THEY SAY IT WAS AN ACTIVE SHOOTER, BULLETS HAVE NO EYES. ULTIMATELY THE RESIDENTS WERE ABLE TO RETURN HOME. Oklahoma City Police are currently investigating the case after one of their loved ones drowned in Lake Stanley. Draper, we told you about it yesterday morning when the body was recovered from the lake. Officials have now identified the officer as Grayson Fox. This is a video of a procession from Ou Health. Investigators say he was off duty at the time and had only been with the department since August of last year. Police identify officer shot and suspect killed during standoff in northwest Oklahoma

The officer was taken to a nearby hospital after the gunshot wound and is expected to recover after surgery.

Officers attempted to deescalate the situation, but the suspect did not obey their commands and continued to go in and out of the home.The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Kavon Ragan, then began shooting at officers, hitting one. The officer was taken to OU Health, where police said he underwent surgery and is expected to recover.The Oklahoma City Police Department identified the officer as Sergeant. Joshua Scott, who has been on the force for eight years.The shooting led to a barricade situation and a large police presence in the northwest Oklahoma City neighborhood. Police learned Ragan had five other people, including three children, in the home, and he continued to fire at officers.Just after 11:45 a.m., an Oklahoma City police officer shot Ragan while he was still inside the home. The tactical team then entered the home and rescued the five people still inside.Two Oklahoma City police officers and a member of the U.S. Marshals Task Force returned fire during the standoff. At around 9:15 a.m., police responded to a report that a man was pointing a gun at another person inside a home in the 2200 block of West Eubanks Street, near Northwest 36th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

When officers arrived, they encountered the suspect on his porch from across the street. Officers attempted to deescalate the situation, but the suspect did not obey their commands and continued to go in and out of the home.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Kavon Ragan, then began firing at the officers, hitting one of them. The officer was taken to OU Health, where he underwent surgery and is expected to recover, according to police.

The Oklahoma City Police Department identified the officer as Sergeant Joshua Scott, who has eight years of service.

The shooting led to a barricade situation and a large police presence in the northwest Oklahoma City neighborhood. Police learned that Ragan had five other people, including three children, in the house and continued to shoot at officers.

Shortly after 11:45 a.m., an Oklahoma City police officer shot Ragan while he was still inside the house. The emergency team then entered the house and rescued the five people who were still inside.

Two Oklahoma City police officers and a member of the U.S. Marshals Task Force returned fire during the altercation. They have been placed on regular administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
