Police hunt for youth who attacked couple with chisel | Ahmedabad News

Police said the neighbours took the couple to a nearby private hospital. Later, Vijay, who works as a dyeing master at a mill in Kadodara village in Surat district, filed a complaint with the Dindoli police.

A youth allegedly attacked a couple with a chisel while they were sleeping at their house in Surat’s Dindoli before fleeing early Wednesday. The incident took place around 4.20 am when Vijay Modi (44) and his wife Guddi (43) were sleeping at Dream Villa society, said police.

“The youth, allegedly around 18 years of age, managed to enter the couple’s bedroom and attacked Guddi, injuring her throat and right hand with a chisel. As Vijay woke up, he tried to overpower the youth. The accused then attacked Vijay… he suffered five injuries, including in the head and face,” said an officer. “As their daughters, 14 and 17 years old, who were sleeping in another room, heard the couple screaming, they raised an alarm. The youth then fled.”

The unidentified youth has been booked under sections 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt), 118(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 333 (house trespass) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Sanhita.
