Poughkeepsie man arrested for gun possession

On June 27, 2024, the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit and the City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit arrested Malique J. Stephenson, age 24, of Poughkeepsie, NY, for two counts of criminal possession of a weapon (a Class C felony), two counts of criminal possession of a firearm (a Class E felony), criminal possession of a defaced weapon (a Class D felony), and two counts of unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices (a Class B misdemeanor).

At around 9:10 p.m., police officers stopped a 2021 Kia Forte on Mill Street in Poughkeepsie for traffic violations. The investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Malique Stephenson, was in illegal possession of a defaced Glock 19 pistol and a Taurus G2C pistol.

Stephenson was arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
