Governor Josh Green, MD, signed Senate Bill 2305 on Monday, which establishes a Silver Alert program within the Department of Law Enforcement. SB 2305 implements a Silver Alert program to find and protect missing persons who are 65 years of age or older or have a cognitive impairment or developmental disability.

“The establishment of a Silver Alert program will bring many benefits to our community and especially to our missing kūpuna,” said State Senator Brandon JC Elefante. “I want to thank Governor Green and the community for all of their hard work and support in turning this important measure into law.”

More than half of the states across the country have established Silver Alert programs modeled after the AMBER Alert program to identify missing persons. This law helps to immediately notify the public, enable a quick response, and increase the chances of finding a missing person.
