Mercer County animal cruelty investigation needs help

BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) — Officials in the city of Bluefield, West Virginia are asking for the public’s help in investigating an animal cruelty incident.

According to a post on the City of Bluefield, WV’s Facebook page, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, a home on Giles Street in Bluefield, WV was raided where several emaciated, sick and injured dogs were brought in. Several remains of dead dogs were also found in the home. Bluefield Animal Control, Mercer County Animal Control and Bluefield PD assisted in recovering the animals.


According to the press release, investigators are trying to locate the homeowners, Timothy Cumbee and Eliza Cumbee. Both Timothy and Eliza are originally from Giles County and may currently live in McDowell County.

An investigation by members of the Bluefield Police Department and Bluefield Animal Control is ongoing.
