Police: Motorcyclist dead after accident in Wythe County | WJHL

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash at the intersection of Max Meadows Road and Route 11 in Wythe County on Tuesday.

The Virginia State Police (VSP) reports that a 2020 Harley Davidson was traveling west on Max Meadows Road shortly after 3 p.m.


The motorcycle was at an intersection when it was struck by a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 traveling north on Route 11, VSP said. The motorcycle then skidded and rolled several times.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified by police as Fred H. Stowers, 71, of Max Meadows, was taken to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries. Stowers was wearing a helmet, according to VSP.

The driver of the Dodge was uninjured in the accident and is facing charges.

The crash remains under investigation.
