Two arrested after chase near LaPorte-Porter County line – 95.3 MNC

A chase near the LaPorte-Porter County border resulted in two arrests.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, Trooper Nicholas Isajczuk was patrolling I-94 near the Porter-LaPorte County line when he noticed a gray Toyota SUV with no headlights or taillights traveling at a high rate of speed. Despite traveling at over 110 mph, the trooper was eventually able to catch up to the SUV as it pulled onto the shoulder to pass another car.

The chase continued off the interstate onto US 421, headed to Michigan City, and then back west onto US 20. The pursuit ended outside the Pilot Truck Stop in Porter, IN. The driver, Mohamed A. Ahamed Ahrar, 26, of Mechanicsburg, PA, was arrested after failing a chemical test with a blood alcohol content of .09%. It turned out that his passenger, Joshua C. Reed, 32, of Chicago, IL, had asked him to stop but was ignored.

Reed was found to have ketamine and was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Both men were taken to the LaPorte County Jail.
