Athol Daily News – Four injured in two accidents on Templeton Road in Athol

ATHOL – Two separate accidents were reported on Templeton Road Tuesday afternoon, within a half mile of each other.

According to Athol Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Parker, a car left the roadway and struck another vehicle. A third vehicle was unable to stop in time and collided with the other two, sustaining only minor damage.

Parker said dispatch received the call at 5:12 p.m. and Athol Fire and Police Departments responded immediately. Two of the drivers involved in the crash and a passenger were taken to Athol Hospital.

Templeton Road was closed for about two hours while firefighters cleared the scene. The vehicle crossing the roadway had tipped over a guardrail, which slowed the crash, Parker said.

During the ensuing traffic caused by the accident, a passenger vehicle attempted to make a U-turn about a half mile down the road and was struck by an oncoming motorcyclist at 5:25 p.m. The Athol Fire Department and State Police also responded to this accident. The motorcyclist was also transported to Athol Hospital by Phillipston ambulance.

The driver hit by the motorcyclist was uninjured.
