Animals rescued from New Jersey home, several found dead in freezer – NBC10 Philadelphia

A New Jersey woman has faced multiple charges after authorities found several dead animals in a freezer and dozens more living in “inhumane conditions” in her home.

On Monday, police said officers from the Galloway Township Police Department executed a search warrant for a home in the 300 block of Cresson Avenue.

According to police, the arrest warrant was based on an ongoing investigation after police received reports of numerous animals living in inhumane conditions.

After executing the search warrant, officers rescued seven dogs and 29 cats, according to police. Officers also found two dead adult dogs, one dead cat and four dead kittens, all in a freezer in the home.

The home’s resident, 57-year-old Nancy Santos of Galloway, was taken into custody and charged with 43 counts of animal neglect, according to police.

Police say Santos is being held at the Atlantic County Correctional Facility pending a future court date.

In a statement, Galloway Township Police thanked Kimmy’s Safe Haven Rescue, the Atlantic County Animal Shelter and A-Academy Animal Control for their help in relocating the rescued animals.

“The Galloway Township Police Department remains committed to investigating every report of animal cruelty in our community,” said Police Chief Richard D. Barber. “To fulfill this commitment, we recently trained two additional officers for our HLEO unit.”
