Suspected serial rapist arrested in South Florida

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla — An Orlando man who police believe is a serial rapist is being held without bail in a South Florida jail.

Vincent Ernst Laing Jr., 30, was arrested in Palm Beach County following an investigation into the sexual assault of a 41-year-old woman.

According to an affidavit, Laing is accused of attacking two women twice at an Orlando apartment complex in June and August 2023.

In the June attack, the woman drove to the MetroWest apartment complex near Valencia College to check her GPS when Laing approached her, according to police.

The victim said he put a knife to her head and forced her into a nearby apartment, where he allegedly raped her.

In the August incident, a woman said she was checking out an apartment unit when she was forced into an apartment at knifepoint and raped.

Laing is being held without bail in the Palm Beach County Jail and faces a charge of sexual battery with a deadly weapon.
