Farmington man found guilty of sexual assault at sleepover party

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – A jury found a Farmington man guilty of sexually assaulting minors at pajama parties.

David Olivo, 43, of the Unionville neighborhood of Farmington, learned of his fate on Monday, according to Hartford County District Attorney Sharmese Walcott.

Olivo was in Hartford Superior Court.

He was found guilty of two counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of fourth-degree sexual assault, and two counts of endangering a minor.

Walcott said evidence presented at trial included statements from two underage victims who each reported to Farmington police that they had been sexually abused by Olivo on separate occasions.

A victim reported that on July 1, 2020, while returning home during a slumber party at the defendant’s house, Olivo offered to drive the victim home. During the drive, Olivo sexually assaulted the victim.

Further testimony revealed that on February 6, 2021, Olivo picked up a group of minors and brought them to his home for another slumber party. In the early hours of the next day, a second victim woke up and went to the kitchen to get a drink. The defendant was in the kitchen at the time and sexually assaulted the victim.

“The courage and commitment of the young victims who stood firm while testifying before a jury of people they have never met is remarkable,” Walcott said. “I thank the jury for their time and I thank these young witnesses for their example of strength and courage.”

Olivo’s sentencing was scheduled for September 4 in Hartford.
