University gets $1 million to build student success center

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A local university is planning a new student success center and just received a $1 million grant from the state to make it happen.

Canisius University, which received the money through the Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program, will renovate space at its Andrew L. Bouwhuis, SJ Library to convert a floor or portion of a floor into a center.

Harold Fields, vice president of student affairs, said that like many colleges across the country, Canisius wanted to consolidate its student support services (academic success, career development and student accessibility services).
