Suspect found dead in manhunt in Cranberry Twp. – ButlerRadio.com

Residents of Cranberry Township were under a curfew for hours yesterday after police searched for a suspicious man.

An active threat alert was issued around 1 p.m. At around 3:30 p.m., police said the manhunt was over after the suspect was “located” in a wooded area near Freshcorn Road. Sources told our news partners at WPXI that the man was found dead.

It all started when Cranberry Highlands Golf Course employees found a vehicle broken down on a private road at around 10 a.m. Cranberry Police Chief Kevin Meyer said,

“These employees realized at this time that there were weapons in the vehicle. Specifically, they saw long guns and a weapon described as an AR-style long gun,” Meyer said.

When the police arrived, they confirmed several weapons and other findings, according to Meyer.

“They could see long guns inside the vehicle. They also saw notes that caused officers great concern and indicated that the man was not mentally stable,” Meyer said.

The FBI and other neighboring agencies were called in to assist in the search.

Police said they found the man at 3:10 p.m. The man’s identity has not been released. It is also not clear how the man died.
