Investigations into accidents and shootings lead to closure of parts of I-55

CHICAGO – Authorities are investigating a shooting on the Stevenson Expressway. Several lanes have been closed as part of the investigation.

According to Illinois State Police, a shooting and crash occurred around 2 a.m. At least two vehicles were involved and one person was taken to the hospital, the ISP said.

The inbound lanes of I-55 are closed at Halstead. Traffic is being diverted to the Dan Ryan ramp toward town for the duration of the investigation, causing backups for miles and significant delays.
