Two Chinese killed, 19 rescued (VIDEO)

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 – Two Chinese nationals were killed while 19 others were rescued when their coach overturned at Kilometer 16.5 of Jalan Genting Highlands today.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Station director Datuk Dr Wan Mohamad Zaidi Wan Isa told national news agency Bernama that both male victims suffered head injuries.

“Their bodies have been taken to Bentong Hospital in Pahang,” he said when contacted.

Meanwhile News Harianquoted Ismail Abdul Ghani, deputy chief of operations of the Pahang Fire and Rescue Service (JBPM), as saying that an emergency call about the incident was received at 10:43 a.m.

“A team of firefighters and rescue personnel from Bentong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Genting Highlands BBP and Genting Fire Unit were dispatched to the scene.

“On arrival, we found that two passengers were trapped in the bus while 19 victims had been evacuated from the bus,” he said when contacted today.

He added that there were 11 male and seven female Chinese on board the coach, which was travelling from the popular holiday resort at the time of the accident.

“The other three victims were the driver and two local tour guides.

“The injured will be handed over to the care of Ministry of Health personnel for further treatment.

“The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation,” he said.
