Deputies: Man killed in dump truck accident near Niles

NILES TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WOOD) – Authorities say an Indiana man was killed in a dump truck accident near Niles.

According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on 11th Street near the intersection with Ontario Road in Niles Township.

Investigators said a car pulled out of a driveway onto 11th Street and failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming dump truck. The driver of the car, a 69-year-old Indiana man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The sheriff’s office said the accident is still under investigation.
