Traffic comes to a standstill after two horses are killed on I-5 freeway

There were traffic delays on the I-5 freeway on Tuesday evening after an out-of-control horse died in one of the lanes.

According to the California Highway Patrol, just before 9 p.m., three horses began running across several lanes of the busy highway near the westbound 210 Freeway transition road near Newhall Pass.

Two horses died when they collided with a car in the middle lane. The horse eventually died in lane number 4. The driver pulled over to the side of the highway while some bystanders tried to catch another horse.

It is unclear how the horses got onto the highway.
