Man charged with racist slurs and death threats against South Greensburg motorist – WPXI

SOUTH GREENSBURG, Pa. – A man is facing multiple charges following a road rage incident that occurred at the intersection of US119 and Huff Avenue on June 20.

Michael Gravely is charged with ethnic intimidation, endangering a child and making terroristic threats after his arrest by police on Monday.

“I’m not too surprised,” said Brian Kleber, who lives nearby.

According to police, Gravely and another man were driving on Route 119. The other man passed Gravely, and police said Gravely began to follow closely behind him.

The other driver then changed lanes.

The two stopped at the red light at the intersection of 119 and Huff Avenue, and Gravely got out of the car, leaving his one-month-old baby alone in the back seat.

According to police, he then uttered racist insults, threatened to kill the other man and told him to return to his country.

According to police, Gravely hit the driver’s side window, shattering the glass.

Kleber, who spoke to Channel 11’s Andrew Havranek Tuesday afternoon, said they were not surprised that something like this happened.

“At this very intersection, I myself have been the victim of not one, not two, but three random drivers who attempted to use their vehicles as a weapon, simply because of the way I was dressed,” they said.

According to court documents, Gravely said the rear of the other driver’s trailer struck his car, causing him to swerve and nearly hit the median barrier.

Gravely told police that he was upset because his daughter was in the car and the other man had his phone pointed at him.

According to court documents, when asked by police if he had used racial slurs, Gravely replied, “not that I know of.”

He also denied having threatened the man with death.

He admitted to damaging the other car.

“It’s really nice to see that the police are actually making sure that victims are protected and heard when something like this happens. It’s a nice change, honestly,” Kleber said.

Gravely has been released from jail on bail. The damage to the other man’s car amounts to almost $2,700, according to police.
