KeyBank’s ‘Thank You Machines’ Filled With Treats Are Coming to Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A fun experiment is coming to the Queen City in the form of two wheels and a mobile ATM.

KeyBank is offering a new take on the ATM: its “Automated Thank You Machines” don’t dispense cash, but treats!

“If you see our ATM, our automatic thank you machine, please stop by, say hello and grab a treat. We’d be more than happy to meet you and more than happy for you to use the ATM,” said Matthew Pitts, KeyBank’s regional communications manager. “It’s a way for us to meet our customers in the moment. At KeyBank, we meet our customers in the moment, whether they’re saving for college, retirement or buying a home, but this is a fun, creative, fun way to meet people in the moment, when they’re having fun.”

According to KeyBank, users will see a “Withdraw” screen and receive a fun receipt. They will ride around Buffalo on e-bikes, handing out treats like cookies, tacos or toys.

“The only thing I can guarantee is that you’re going to get something fun. It’s going to be an enjoyable experience, whether it’s a cookie, a taco or a toy, we want to make people happy,” Pitts added.

Here’s when and where you can fund them:

Wednesday July 3

  • 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Outside Sahlen Field before the start of KeyBank’s Independence Day Celebration with the Buffalo Bisons
  • 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. – Buffalo River Fest Park (249 Ohio Street in Buffalo)

Thursday July 4th

  • 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. On the canal in Buffalo
    *a previous version of this article said the machines would be at AKG/Delaware Park from 4pm to 6pm. They will no longer be there, instead they will be at Canalside from 4pm to 10pm*

KeyBank said this is part of its “Meet You in the Moment” campaign and is a fun and unique way to thank the communities it serves.

It’s a fun way to get together for a moment of gratitude.

The Buffalo market is one of KeyBank’s largest markets, with more than 50 branches in the area.

Even if you’re not a KeyBank customer, Pitts told 7 News’ Pheben Kassahun there’s plenty of love to give You Also.

“You don’t have to be a KeyBank customer to use our mobile device, our automatic thank you machine. It’s a way for us to say thank you to all the people of Buffalo. Thank you for being a part of this community, thank you for allowing KeyBank to be a part of this community and supporting us. Again, it’s a way to meet people in the moment,” he explained.

KeyBank’s next Thank You ATM stops will be in Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and Cleveland.
