Vinicius Junior suspended for Brazil’s Copa America quarter-final against Uruguay

Vinicius Junior will be suspended for Brazil’s Copa America quarter-final against Uruguay.

The 23-year-old Real Madrid star received his second yellow card of the tournament in the final group stage match against Colombia.

He received a yellow card for bringing down James Rodriguez after just seven minutes in the game in Santa Clara, California.

He had previously been cautioned in the 83rd minute of the 4-1 win in the previous match against Paraguay. He had already scored two goals in that match.

He will now miss the quarter-final against Uruguay, which takes place in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Colombian midfielder Jefferson Lerma will miss his team’s next match against Panama after also receiving a yellow card for the second time in the tournament.

Vinicius Jr. has played 33 international matches for his country and scored five goals.

He scored two goals against Paraguay and is now only behind Argentinian Lautaro Martinez in the race for the tournament’s Golden Shoe.
