Man dies in crash on I-95 in Cocoa late Tuesday morning | North Brevard

COCOA – A 79-year-old Clewiston man was killed Tuesday morning in a crash on northbound Interstate 95 south of State Road 528 in Cocoa, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, the victim was driving a 2005 Nissan Titan northbound on Interstate 95, just south of State Road 528 and in the outside lane. A blown left rear tire forced the driver to overcorrect.

The Titan then spun and began to roll over until it came to rest on its driver’s side on the outside grass verge. The man was thrown from the vehicle in the crash, the FHP said. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The man was flown by helicopter to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 47-year-old from Clewiston, suffered no injuries and was wearing a seatbelt, the FHP said.

The FHP said the investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
