A couple is charged with raping a preschooler in their Pennsylvania home amid a woman hunt

A couple has been charged with raping a preschooler in their Pennsylvania home. John Dehart, 56, and Sarah Miller, 34, are charged with sex crimes against a child at an East Hempfield Township home from 2011 to 2013.

The abuse was reported to police on December 1, 2023 by a witness as part of a separate investigation. Subsequent interviews revealed that the abuse occurred when the victim was four to six years old.




John, originally from Washington, was arrested and taken into custody in Philadelphia on April 18 and extradited to Lancaster County. Police are still searching for Sarah, whose whereabouts are unknown.

It is believed that Sarah also calls herself Sara and uses the surname Souder. Her last known address was in Nanticoke, Luzerne County, and police are seeking information about where she may be.

Meanwhile, John’s bail was set at $1 million. He remains in the Lancaster County Jail and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 21. John is also charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, incest, indecent assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children and making terroristic threats.

Sarah is also charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, incest, indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.
