Mercedes Moné talks about being called ‘unsafe’ after the 2017 incident

During an interview with Hot 97, Mercedes Moné was asked about a 2017 incident involving Saraya in the WWE.

During a match on the Holiday Live Event Tour, the former Paige sustained an injury after being kicked in the back by Mercedes, who was then competing under the name Sasha Banks.

The new TBS champion said of her feelings about the situation:

It definitely sent me into a depression because wrestling has always been my biggest goal and dream and I always wanted to be the best at it.

So when you hear noises that maybe make you feel unsafe… It wasn’t even the guys in the back, it was just the fans thinking you weren’t safe. Sometimes it’s scary, but that’s the business we’re in. You never know when you’re going to get hurt.

Saraya had already spoken about her injury in 2018, recalling that Mercedes was “devastated” when she learned that she would have to give up her career due to the injury.
