Woman dies after fire in her home in Goodlettsville, Tennessee

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman died when a home in Goodlettsville caught fire early Tuesday morning.

Goodlettsville Fire Chief Kenneth Reeves told News 2 that the fire started at a duplex in Katy Hill around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2. A family reportedly arrived at the house to find it ablaze and called for help.

Reeves said when crews arrived, heavy smoke was coming out of a window. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire relatively quickly and found a 68-year-old woman dead inside the home.

No further injuries were reported.

The Red Cross is currently supporting the residents of the adjacent semi-detached house.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
