Dead man found in Lufkin triggers police investigation | Texas

LUFKIN, Texas — Lufkin Police are investigating the death of a man found this morning in the 100 block of Collins Street.

A passerby discovered the man lying on a grassy area next to the road at around 5:15 a.m. When officers arrived, they found him dead. They believe he had been lying there for several hours. The cause of death is currently unknown, and an autopsy has been ordered, according to a police press release.

Although the man had no identification papers on him, investigators believe they know who he is. They are waiting for fingerprint confirmation. After that, his identity will be released after the family has been notified.
