Driver killed, four injured in Thayer crash

THAYER, Missouri – A car crash in Thayer, Missouri, on Monday, July 1, left the driver dead and four passengers, including three teenagers, injured.

According to a Facebook post from the Thayer Police Department (TPD), they responded to a car crash near US Highway 63 and Alton Road at 6:23 a.m.


When officers arrived, they found that there were two adults and three teenagers in the vehicle and, together with Oregon County Emergency Services, immediately provided aid to the occupants.

According to TPD, the accident occurred when the vehicle left the south side of the roadway and struck a wooden embankment. The vehicle continued into the backyard of a home on Alton Road and struck a tree.

The driver died from injuries sustained in the crash. The four passengers were taken by ambulance to Ozarks Health Care in West Plains. Two of the teenagers were taken by ambulance from Ozarks Health Care to Children’s Hospital.
