Man shot after incident of aggression while driving in British Columbia, RCMP seeks witnesses

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) of Richmond are investigating an alleged road rage incident in which a man was shot.

Just before 6:15 p.m. on Friday (June 28), Mounties were called to the 5500 block of Hollybridge Way for a report of shots fired.

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Richmond, the victim was driving his white Mercedes van near Alderbridge Way and No. 3 Road when a white Kia cut him off. The Mercedes driver pulled up next to the Kia at the intersection of Alderbridge Way and Lansdowne Road and yelled at the driver.

According to the victim’s statement, the police said in the press release, the passenger in the Kia then shot him with a pistol. The Kia then drove away and was last seen heading east on Lansdowne Road.

Although the man was not hit by a bullet, he suffered injuries from the shattered glass of his driver’s window.

Inspector Michael Cohee said the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Richmond will “do everything possible” to identify the suspect in the shooting.

“This was a reckless and brazen act that could have caused serious injury or worse to the victim or any pedestrian or motorist in the area,” he said.

Richmond’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are now looking for witnesses or dashcam footage who were in the area between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on June 28. They are asked to contact police at 604-278-1212, quoting case number 2024-20250.
