Police say a baby was found dead in the backyard of a home in southeast Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) – An investigation is ongoing after a dead baby was found in southeast Fresno early Tuesday morning.

Police were called to a home on Backer Street near Huntington around 6:30 a.m.

When police arrived, they found the baby in the backyard. It appears to be an infant. The exact age was not given.

According to police, it was not as if the baby lived in the house. How it got into the house is still under investigation.

The baby was eventually declared dead. Detectives were tasked with investigating the death.

Authorities are interviewing neighbors and residents for more information.

The family living in the house is cooperating with the authorities.
