NOPD arrests three suspects in murder investigation

On July 1, 2024, the NOPD arrested three suspects in connection with the investigation of a homicide that occurred on June 30, 2024 in the 700 block of Saint Peter Street.

On June 30 at approximately 4:41 p.m., officers from NOPD’s 8th Precinct responded to a call of a shooting at the intersection of Royal and St. Peter Streets. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female victim seated in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Today (July 2, 2024), the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 43-year-old Kristie Thibodeaux and determined the official cause of death to be a gunshot wound.

During their investigation, New Orleans Police Department Homicide Detectives were able to identify three individuals as suspects in this incident: Jerben Albarec (black male, date of birth: June 2, 2007), Joshua Aviala-Bonifacio (black male, date of birth: May 21, 2005), and a 16-year-old black juvenile.

Investigators obtained arrest warrants for each suspect. Each of the suspects was located, arrested, and charged with second degree murder and attempted armed robbery. The attempted armed robbery charge was filed because investigators determined that the murder was committed during the attempt to commit an armed robbery.

The findings of this investigation are the result of a successful collaboration between the New Orleans Police Department, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Louisiana State Police, and the FBI’s New Orleans Violent Crime Task Force/Violent Crime Abatement and Investigative Team.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
