Recall alert: Audi E-Tron GT

Audi has recalled 9,653 e-tron GT electric cars from model years 2022 to 2024, including some high-performance RS models, due to a braking problem.

The company told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the front axle brake hoses could crack and leak brake fluid, reducing the effectiveness of the front brakes.

The recall is identical to a recall last week for the Porsche Taycan, which shares many parts with the e-tron GT.

The rear brakes are powerful enough to stop the car on their own, but a loss of braking power can increase stopping distances, which could lead to an accident.

Audi says it is not aware of any accidents or injuries, but has received two warranty claims related to the problem.

Dealers fix the problem by replacing the front axle brake hoses and the clamps that hold them in place with parts of a new design that is intended to prevent cracking.

Automakers try to reach every owner with recall notices, but some always slip through the net. That means millions of Americans who drive cars with safety defects are eligible for free repairs. Find out if there are any unanswered recalls for your vehicle at our Recall Center.
