Woman cheated and raped by man she met through a matchmaking app – Telangana Today

Hyderabad: A woman in SR Nagar was raped and cheated by a man who had become her boyfriend through a marriage app.

The 27-year-old woman, a private employee from Uppal, and the suspect, M. Rajashekar (30), who runs a photography studio at Jaya Prakash Nagar in SR Nagar, became friends through the matchmaking app a year ago.

According to police, the suspect proposed marriage to her and they entered into a relationship. He then took her to his photography studio with a promise of marriage and raped her on June 24, the victim claimed. When she recently proposed marriage to him, Sunder refused and started avoiding her.

Based on the victim’s complaint, a ‘Zero FIR’ was initially registered in Uppal, which was then transferred to SR Nagar due to jurisdiction. SR Nagar has re-registered a case of rape, cheating and other offences and is trying to nab the suspect.
