Impeachment plan: Imo assembly suspends four members

The Imo State House of Representatives has announced the suspension of four lawmakers over an alleged plot to impeach the Speaker of the House, Honourable Chike Olemgbe.

The spokesman who made the announcement on Tuesday said the decision to suspend was made at the board meeting.

The suspended MPs included Ahiazu-Mbaise and Samuel Otuibe; Ezinihitte-Mbaise, Henry Agbasonu; Okigwe, Chidiebere Ogbunikpa and Oru-West, Dominic Ezerioha.

The spokesman also announced that all standing committees of the suspended members had been relieved of their duties.

In the meantime, the Speaker made minor reshuffles in the standing committees during the plenary session.

Some of the suspended members who were present at the announcement declined to speak to journalists.
