Houthis claim missile attack on four ships linked to the US, UK and Israel

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have announced several military operations against ships they believe are linked to the US, Britain and Israel.

According to Yahya Saree, a spokesman for the Iran-aligned group, the attacks occurred in several key maritime areas.

In a televised statement on the Houthi-owned Al Masirah television channel, Saree identified the ships attacked as the container ship MSC Unific, the chemical tankers Delonix and Lucky Sailor, and the British Navy auxiliary ship Anvil Point.

The attacks, reportedly carried out with cruise missiles, took place in the Arabian Sea, Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean.

The MSC Unific, which is suspected of being linked to Israel, was attacked in the Arabian Sea, while the US oil tanker Delonix was attacked in the Red Sea for the second time this week.

The “Lucky Sailor”, operating in the Mediterranean, and the British “Anvil Point” in the Indian Ocean were also targeted.

The Houthis claim that their activities are a sign of solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and point to increased tensions in the region.

Since mid-November, the group has increased its drone and missile operations along key shipping routes, targeting vessels it believes support Israeli interests.

Neither Reuters nor other news agencies have independently verified the Houthis’ claims.

In response to increasing maritime threats, the US and UK launched Operation Prosperity Guardian to protect shipping in the Red Sea.

This attempt came after US and British forces launched retaliatory strikes on Houthi military bases in Yemeni territory.

The situation underlines the unstable geopolitical dynamics of the region.

Ongoing disputes threaten global maritime security and require international action to maintain peace and security on key shipping routes.
