Maha LoP suspended for 5 days for using ‘abusive’ language against BJP MPs

Indian Parliament’s Opposition Leader Ambadas Danve (Shiv Sena UBT) in the Maharashtra Legislative Council was suspended for five days (till July 8) on Tuesday for allegedly using “derogatory” and “insulting” language against BJP MP Prasad Lad during the legislative session.

Minister for Legislative Affairs Chandrakant Patil introduced a resolution which was passed by voice vote.

Previously, Lad had called for Danves to resign because he had made “insulting” and “derogatory” comments about him.

The confrontation occurred after LoP and Lad adopted an aggressive stance and allegedly used unparliamentary language.

BJP MPs had demanded a resolution condemning the LoP in the Lok Sabha. Rahul Gandhi’s statement against Hindus

. Lad had raised the issue of Rahul’s speech in the Lok Sabha in the Council and initiated the debate by condemning his remarks.

Lad, along with BJP MP Pravin Darekar, accused LoP Rahul Gandhi of “insulting” Hindus, which was heavily criticised by Danve, Congress MPs Bhai Jagtap and Abhijit Wanjari, among others, leading to a series of disruptions and adjournments, following which the state assembly was adjourned for the day.

Lad claimed that Danve started misbehaving with him while he was speaking and demanded that Lad apologize.

However, Danve later clarified that he had not lost his balance. “I am a Shiv Sainik and can chop off the fingers of anyone who points a finger at me. Lad gestured in my direction while speaking on an issue that had nothing to do with the House,” he said.
