Florida woman raped in Daytona Beach

A Daytona Beach man invited a woman who was waiting for a friend in a park into his apartment and then raped her, police said.

Harold Fletcher, 66, told the woman at Joe Harris Park on Pearl Street that she could come to his apartment and wait there until her friend got home from work, Daytona Beach police said.

Fletcher was charged with false imprisonment and sexual assault and was being held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail on Monday.

Once at Fletcher’s apartment, he asked the woman to come to his room, where he gave her a glass of water and allowed her to charge her cellphone, police reported.
