Woman attacked and raped at cattle post in Mmamabula

The victim had been visiting her relatives at Mmamabula cattle post between Dibete and the Tropic of Capricorn when she was attacked and raped by a 21-year-old man. The perpetrator has been identified. He hails from Maemela district in Dibete and works as a herdsman at Mmamabula cattle post. Dibete Police Station Head, Superintendent Meshack Ranku, said on the fateful night, the two met at the said homestead and later that night left the victim to sleep. She was followed by the suspect who attacked her, dragged her to his home and raped her.

“That night, he spent the night with the victim without her consent. After leaving the suspect’s residence in the morning, the victim reported the matter to the police and the man, who hails from Dibete, was arrested and charged with rape,” Ranku said. “The suspect is currently in police custody pending investigation and will soon be arraigned before the Mahalapye Magistrate’s Court to face a charge of rape,” he added.
