School calendars are under local control. Many Georgia districts follow a balanced calendar, which includes nine weeks of summer and one-week breaks in the fall and February, as well as one week for Thanksgiving, two for Christmas and the traditional spring break in April.

Below are the start dates for districts in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
