Shooting in Atlanta’s Oakland City neighborhood leaves 2 teens dead, 1 injured

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Two teenagers are dead and another was injured in an overnight shooting in southwest Atlanta.

The Atlanta Police Department said they received a call about a person shot in the 1000 block of Sparks Street around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived on scene, they located three teens — two 13-year-olds and a 12-year-old — suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police say one of the 13-year-olds died at the scene and the other died at the hospital. The 12-year-old was taken to the hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover.

Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance video and speaking with witnesses and family members.

Police said the shooting took place in the stairwell of an apartment building.

Investigators have not provided a description of the suspect at this time and are still searching for a motive.
