The German airline Lufthansa has suspended its night flights to and from the Lebanese capital Beirut after the Israeli regime threatened a comprehensive military strike against the West Asian country.

The airlines announced on Saturday that the measure would remain in effect until July 31.

According to a spokesman, the daily flights will continue as planned.

Swiss International Air Lines, a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, also announced that it would switch its night flights to Beirut to day flights until the end of July “due to political developments” on the border between Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territories.

Previously, mock air strikes by Israeli fighter jets on Beirut had been reported.

During the incident, the fighter jets broke the sound barrier and fired flares over the city.

After Tel Aviv launched its genocidal war in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the regime began sporadic attacks on Lebanon, leading to firefights with the country’s resistance movement, Hezbollah.

The movement responded to the aggression by firing hundreds of rockets at the northern parts of the occupied territories.

Tel Aviv repeatedly threatens to turn Lebanon into a second Gaza.

Earlier this month, the Israeli army announced it had approved plans to attack the country, raising fears that the regime might try to carry out its threats.

Hezbollah fought in two Israeli wars against Lebanon in 2000 and 2006, forcing the Tel Aviv regime’s military to withdraw in humiliating fashion in both cases.

The movement has promised to vigorously defend Lebanon in the event of another onslaught.
