In a video that went viral, a man parked his Bolero in the middle of the road and stopped another car that was driving behind him. He got out of the car and started arguing with the other man in the car. A man named Piyush Kukkar wrote on social media, “If anyone tells you that a dashcam is not necessary in BLR, show them this. Another such incident on the outskirts of Bangalore, this time it happened to me. Today at around 10:25 pm, I became a victim of a staged harassment incident on the outskirts of BLR on Varthur Road, near a prestigious lakeside habitat.”

He also suspected that the guy backed away only when he saw the dashboard camera and described the incident as premeditated. “A guy on a scooter blocked my way (a trick seen in previous incidents, seen at 10:24:50 in the attached video) and another guy in a Bolero (the last two digits of the license plate are half scratched) started honking loudly behind me. They forced me to stop and the Bolero driver got out and started shouting aggressively. Another person on a scooter made a U-turn and came very close to my car. I suspect the Bolero guy had told him that a dashboard camera was going to be installed, that’s why he didn’t hit my car with his scooter,” he added.

Piyush further said he felt lucky to have installed a dashcam and tagged Bengaluru Police in the X-post. “As you can see in the video, I did not provoke them as I have been seeing these harassment incidents very regularly on Twitter and also I had installed the dashcam. I feel very lucky today but someone else may not be so lucky. Please install a dashcam,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, such incidents have increased significantly in Bengaluru, especially in the IT belt. Bengaluru police announced measures and asked the public to call 112 in such emergency situations.
