Tow truck driver killed in accident at Simi Valley landfill

A tow truck driver was killed Monday in a workplace accident at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, authorities said.

The incident was reported around noon at the facility on the north side of Highway 118, according to Ventura County Fire Department reports.

Officers from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office arrived around 12:15 p.m., Captain Carl Patterson said. The landfill is an unincorporated area just outside the city limits.

A semi-trailer carrying a load of gravel overturned, Patterson said, and a tow truck was called to the landfill to right the trailer.
