Labour supports Anthony Albanese’s decision to suspend Fatima Payman

The Labor Party caucus meeting has just ended, in which Anthony Albanese’s decision to expel Senator Fatima Payman from the party was approved.

“He used words to the effect of ‘we are team players here and it is up to her whether she wants to return to the bosom of the family’,” said Andrew Clennell, Sky News political editor.

“He spoke on the subject for about two minutes… there were no questions on the matter.”

“The Prime Minister sought and received the consent of the group this morning to exclude Fatima Payman from the group indefinitely until she, I assume, guarantees that she will not switch sides again.”
